Workshop Title: Challenging monolingual beliefs: inclusion and intercultural development
This workshop offers the opportunity to examine second language teaching as a practice that challenges monolingual beliefs and fosters intercultural development. In order to promote a reflective intercultural development, SL teaching needs to be intentional in using settings and language that questions stereotypes and foster inclusion. In this workshop we will show teaching materials that address language, cultural practices and products as embedded in the current global situation allowing for conversations of inclusion and diversity.

Workshop Title: Rethinking College Spanish Curriculum: Working with Proyectos
In this session we will work with Proyectos, a Spanish textbook for North American universities. Its innovative approach responds to the demands of the latest university curricula in which the study of foreign languages acquires a constitutive purpose, emphasizing its connections with all cultural dimensions. We will work with activities to illustrate the main concept of Proyectos: integration of language and content, learner’s autonomy, critical thinking, academic skills, and incorporation of a multidisciplinary curriculum.
